Here We Go....

Alright, so here we go. For my Personal Project I have decided to learn to coach soccer. I guess some may say that isn't something that you can learn. But I guess I will have to prove them wrong. When I say learn to coach soccer it is more then just learning to coach soccer, I will actually have to do work! I am first going to attend a coaching course that will certify me with me CCY and/or (it is undecided if I will do one or both) CCC. CCY= Community Coach Youth. CCC= Community Coach Child. Both are entry level coaching courses, the youth course for coaching youth (ages 10-14) and the children course for children (ages 6-10).

After I do the courses I will also actually be doing some coaching. I will do some coaching with Brett Hyslop and Steph Steiner at World Cup Soccer Camp. And I will also be doing some coaching with Mr. Hugh Williams at one of his camps over the summer. I will also attach to the bottom of this post the emails I sent them, and the emails I received back.

Hopefully this project will go really well, since I chose my project because I think I will enjoy it. It isn't something that I will be dreading having to do... hopefully! As well, with these coaching courses completed my coaching certification is something that I can work on in the future. It is something very practical. I should be able to use the skills I learn in the future. Since I love soccer, coaching is something that hopefully I will continue to do, even as the project ends.

The email to Steph:

Hello Steph,
At school over the next 10 months or so we have to do a personal
project. This project can be literally whatever you want it to be, as
long as you can show that you have accomplished something since you
began.

For my personal project I have decided to coach soccer. I am going to
do some coaching courses and things of that nature, but on top of that
I decided it would make sense to also actually coach. I was wondering
if there is any way you and Brett would allow me to coach with one of
your programs, maybe a camp over the summer? That would be awesome,
but if not I understand.

Please let me know!
Thank you,
Jyotish Khanna

And the reply:

I think that is great, we will offer you a chance to do as much as you want! Maybe try something spring break?

Thank you

Steph Steiner

The email to Mr. Williams:

Good evening Mr. Wiliams,

For my personal project I have decided to coach soccer. I am going to do some coaching courses and things of that nature, but on top of that I decided it would make sense to also actually coach. I was wondering if I could help you coach at either the soccer school or at some camps over the summer. Hopefully this is possible, but if not I have some other people I have talked to as well in case this doesn't work out.

Please let me know, thanks,

Jyotish

The Reply:

Good evening, Jyotish:

That's such a great idea! I am very happy to hear that you plan to join the coaching ranks. You're a great player, so that will give you added confidence in being able to demonstrate what you wish to see from your players.

As for coaching jobs, the Soccer School might be trickier, because I have more than enough coaches -- and volunteers! -- at the younger levels. That said, I will talk to Jose after this coming Sunday's session, and see whether he would benefit from another assistant coach.

If that does not work, then certainly you and I can sit down to discuss some potential coaching work in my summer camps.

Let's chat about this in the coming weeks, then?

Best regards,

HW

Hugh Williams

So let it begin!
